Wedding DJ Brian B at Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort – Amber & Mito

Sandestin Ceremony Bubbles Wedding

One thing I always ty to do as a wedding DJ is form a tight bond with my clients. By doing so, your chances of a successful event go way up. You’ll be in tune with what their tastes are musically as well as know exactly how they envision the night turning out. If you are able to catch that vision, it can be a magical and surreal experience the night of the event!

I find it pretty easy for me to make a connection with almost any client but there are those rare few where it goes beyond that…you feel like you’ve known them your whole life or better yet, they are one of those couples you’d have no problem hanging out with after the event is long over. That couldn’t be more the case with my most recent wedding client, Amber and Mito. Not only were they a stunning looking couple, but they were so easy going and laid back, that the planning process felt effortless.

The event took place at the Bayview Room and Terrace which is located inside the Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort.  It had been a while since I personally worked this room so I had forgotten how much I love it.  The location is perfect for intimate weddings.  The ceremony spot is on the back terrace overlooking the Choctawhatchee Bay and is also great for cocktail hour.  The inside ballroom is very private and can really be customized via décor lighting to look quite stunning.

I got a chance to work with Lesley Isacks of Lesley Isacks Photography. Our last wedding together was one of my favorites of last year so I had a good feeling we could rekindle the same “event magic”. Amber and Mito were from South Florida so a few of their wedding vendor friends came up to provide wedding services to give it a more personalized touch. The cake maker was Betty from Cakes By Night out of Fort Myers, FL.  Handling the florals were Larry and Kathy Freeman out of Waleska, Georgia.

With DJ Dan Davis and myself working this event as a wedding DJ duo, we kicked off the reception with “Turn Down For What” by Lil Jon and DJ Snake as the Grand Entrance song. For the First Dance, they chose what is quickly becoming this season’s wedding song, “All of Me” by John Legend. We went into the meal and then our toasts took place. One  of Mito’s daughters, Breanna, gave one of the most heartfelt toasts I’ve ever heard. She honored her dad and Amber so well. Our Father/Daughter dance soundtrack was “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle. Mito, being Puerto Rican, selected “Armor de Madre” by Victor Manuella for him and his mother to dance too.

By the time we got to the open dancing, this crowd was primed and ready! It was on from the first track. Musically, we were all over the place.. We had some retro classics, current top 40 and a good amount of Latin tracks. Mito broke it down with some of the salsa music. I wish I had 1/10 of his rhythmic/dancing ability. Never once did the energy die. We just kept building and building the energy all evening long. There was even a “dance off’!

UPDATE 4/30/14:
This review just came in from Amber and Mito and we are blown away!!
“DJ BRIAN BUONASSISSI WITH B-BOY PRODUCTIONS IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING TO WORK WITH, EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL, SUPER HELPFUL, AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON WITH THE GREAT EXPERIENCE MY HUSBAND AND I HAD FOR OUR WEDDING!!! The reception and the FUN part of the wedding was VERY IMPORTANT to us because everyone knows the DJ can either make or break the party, and BRIAN EXCEEDED ALL OF OUR EXPECTATIONS!!! We had an intimate wedding of roughly 60 people in the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, at the Bayview Room and Terrace, and Brian had the dance floor packed from START to FINISH!!! There was NEVER an empty seat in the room…he even had Grandma dancing to Gangnam Style!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DJ BRIAN B TO ANYONE LOOKING TO HAVE NO WORRIES ON THEIR BIG, SPECIAL DAY!! My husband is Puerto Rican, so I was nervous to see who would dance to the Latin music on my side of the family…including myself…LOL…because that requires a certain kind of skill…BUT HE IS A GENIUS BECAUSE THE MUSIC JUST FLOWED BEAUTIFULLY AND IT SERIOUSLY DID NOT MATTER IF YOU WERE YOUNG, OLD, CAN DANCE AMAZING, TERRIBLE DANCER…LOL..THE POINT IS THAT EVERY SINGLE GUEST LEFT WITH A GREAT, AWESOME EXPERIENCE BECAUSE OF BRIAN!! It was scary selecting vendors I have never met and planning a destination wedding is hard, but his reviews, which are why I called him first, were outstanding!!! You cannot teach personality, and understanding or reading a crowd…you can’t train for those things, it really is a gift, and he has that!!! If you are skimming financially on certain things when you are planning for your wedding, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT GO CHEAP ON CHOOSING DJ BRIAN BUONASSISSI!!! You may find cheaper but you seriously will MISS OUT on the quality and this is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE!!!! We hope to use DJ BRIAN B for other major events in our future!!!!!”

Wedding Entertainment with DJ Charles: The Blacharski Wedding at Eglin: – March 29, 2014

The Spring wedding season kicked off for me a little sooner than expected as this event was added to my calendar 2 weeks before this wedding!  Surprises like this are exactly why I love being in the wedding entertainment business! As the Emcee assigned to the event, I got my first impression of our groom, Tony Blacharski, during our planning appointment. He was very laid back and was looking for a relaxed vibe the day of the event. That said, he didn’t want things too loose as he wanted everything to be perfect for his bride, Elaine Cherry, on their special day. Both the wedding ceremony and reception were held at the Officer’s Club Bayview Club on Eglin Air Force Base.

Working with us this day was Kim from Coastal Moments Photography. This was my first time working alongside her on an event and she was every bit as professional as everyone raved about! I hope to work with her again.

We started the event by providing Ceremony Sound inside the facility.  The groom and bride were both smitten with one another as our officiant, Eric Partin, presided over the ceremony.  They picked some instrumental acoustic guitar selections for the processional and the orchestral version of “Canon In D” as she made her way down the aisle.

For the cocktail hour, they had pre-selected an old school jazz vibe. Songs from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ella Fitzgerald, etc. filled the air as my partner on the event, DJ Dan, mixed the tunes. After cocktail hour concluded, we went straight into the meal. We played a variety of great music.

Following dinner, we went into the cake cut and toasts so we could have a ton of time for open dancing. Tony and Elaine opened the dance floor by having their first dance to the tune of “At Last” by Etta James.  That song is a classic!

Destin Wedding Entertainment

DJ Dan then turned it up a notch as we invited everyone to the dance floor for open dancing.

For the last song of the night, DJ Dan played a Muppets song called “Life’s A Happy Song” which was specifically requested by Tony. I had my doubts with the selection because songs by the Muppets aren’t usually what we in the wedding entertainment business have in our regular playlists… much less use to pack a dance floor. It was obvious that the song had special meaning because as soon as it started playing, it brought the biggest smile to Elaine’s face as well as filled the dance floor. The ending of this reception was definitely one of the most movie-like endings I’ve ever been a part of.

Bayview Club Wedding Officer's Club Last Dance

This intimate wedding really personified what most people dream of – elegant, great music, lots of dancing and love permeating throughout the day.  Thanks for allowing DJ Dan and myself to share the day with you.  Best of luck to both of you!

The Thomas Wedding by Destin Wedding DJ, DJ Dan: 03/22/2014

This past Saturday we were back at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort and Spa in Destin, FL for the wedding of Michael Thomas and Amy Shoulders.

Destin Wedding DJ

I was the Emcee and DJ Duane was behind the turntables mixing the music. Obviously, as Destin Wedding DJs, we both get to be a special part of many weddings and receptions.

There were both local and out of town vendors working with us at this event. The catering and cake was handled by Hilton Sandestin Beach Weddings. The ceremony photography was done by local wedding photographer Angie Wagner of Sunset Images Photography. The florist was Patty from It’s A Perfect Day.  The coordination was done by Deborah Simmons from Signature Occasions, out of Ridgeland, Mississippi.

For this event, we were out on the Pool Deck, which overlooks the stunning Gulf of Mexico. You could not have asked for a better day for a wedding – abundant sunshine and a gentle breeze made for a very refreshing afternoon. The table settings utilized touches of crystal, which sparkled like diamonds in the Spring sun and complemented the beach atmosphere very elegantly.

Michael and Amy entered into the reception with “Step In The Name Of Love” by R Kelly as their soundtrack. That was followed by the First Dance where they chose an updated version of “Endless Love” by Mariah Carey and Lionel Richie.

After the Grand Entrance we immediately went into the cake cut and Michael and Amy picked “Open Arms” by Journey to be playing in the background for that formality.

Hilton Sandestin Wedding Cake

Dinner was transitioned into after the cake cut and then we opened the dance floor for our first open dance set. Few people can resist the lure of “Wobble” by Vic and “The Cupid Shuffle,” so the dance floor was jumping early on.

For the Bouquet Toss, “Single Ladies” by Beyonce was selected.  The Garter Removal song was the classic Marvin Gaye track “Let’s Get It On” and the Garter Toss song was “Big Pimpin’” by Jay-Z.  Once we finished with those formalities, it was back to the mix of DJ Duane as we opened up the dance floor for our 2nd and final dance set.

As the sun went down, the evening air became rather chilly with the sea breeze coming off of the Gulf. Several of our guests became visibly cold as a result of that. I took it upon myself to make several trips to the Pool Towel kiosk, where they rent out warmed-up beach towels, and delivered a towel to each person that was feeling chilly. I like to go the extra mile to make sure my guests are comfortable and having the best time possible!

This was definitely a fun wedding and I’m so glad we got to be a part of Michael and Amy’s special day.  I wish them nothing but the best.  We’ll leave you with a few images from Sunset Images Photography.

DJ Duane-Bull Wedding at Sandestin Hilton on March 15 2014

It was a sunny and great day for a wedding at Sandestin Hilton Beach Golf Resort and Spa for Johnny Bull and Danielle Elliott. The Hilton wedding team handled the coordination and catering. The bride’s bouquet and the arbor flowers were provided by It’s A Perfect Day.  Photography was done by one of our favorites, Tay Gray Photography.

I was the Emcee and DJ Josh B mixed the tunes. The ceremony took place on the beach and we were in the Diamond Ballroom for the reception. The mother of the bride and the bride’s aunt took care of the design/décor and truly did a fantastic job! The décor colors consisted of blues, silvers, greens, and white. It was used throughout the room in the form of peacock feathers and other materials.

Something that was a little different for us with this particular event was the fact that Danielle, the bride, is hearing impaired. Not to worry, we were able to communicate through phone text throughout the planning process. The day of the event I worked with one of the bridesmaids who knew sign language. Danielle was so excited that nothing was going to get in the way on her day!

Danielle and Johnny set the party atmosphere right away by using “Crazy In Love” by Beyonce as their Grand Entrance song. From there, they went with the East Coast format where we go immediately from the Grand Entrance into the First Dance. They chose “Memories of Us” by Keith Urban. That was followed by the Father/Daughter dance to the song “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. The Mother/Son Dance had a little twist in that the bride and her grandfather joined Johnny and his mother as they danced to Izzy K’s version of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”. DJ Josh B then played a cool medley for the Bridal Party Dance of “Cupid Shuffle”, “The Electric Slide”, “Apache”, and the “Wobble”.

We went into dinner so everyone could catch their breath and then transitioned into the toasts. Each speech was heartfelt and there were barely any dry eyes left in the room once they concluded. After the toasts, it was time to get our groove on. DJ Josh B got the crowd up on their feet and out onto the dance floor. We partied the night away and ended on a song Danielle and Johnny had pre-selected called “Stealing Cinderella” by Chuck Wicks.

The music was memorable, the dancing was hillarious (great job groomsmen!) and the bride and groom couldn’t have looked any happier. That is what we like to see  DJ Josh B and I are so happy and honored that we were able to be a part of Danielle and Johnny’s day. We wish both of them many years of happiness!

DJ EVENTS: DJ Brian B at LIVE AQUA CANCUN for the Advisors Excel Corporate Party

I got an e-mail in February asking if we traveled out of the country to DJ Events. We surely do but once I heard that it was in Cancun, Mexico, the “yes” couldn’t get typed fast enough. The only challenge was I had prior engagements already scheduled for March 9-11th in Raleigh, NC. But with a little creative rebooking of flights, I made it work (as if I was going to let that stop me from going).

This event was a sales incentive trip for Advisors Excel, an insurance marketing organization, based out of Topeka, Kansas. They flew in 400 of their employees to Cancun to enjoy two days in the sun. With the brutal winter that most of the country has had to deal with, the 85 degree weather was surely a welcomed relief to them just as much as it was for me.

The event location was the Live Aqua Cancun, an all-inclusive resort, approximately 15 minutes from the airport. For international events, I try not to fly with gear if at all possible because unless you carry it on, there’s always a risk of it “disappearing”. I arrived a day early to make sure the gear I had on my rider was indeed there. After a quick check-in with the event staff, I was greeted to this view.

DJ EVENTS Cancun

After a very busy couple of months, the unplanned day off was amazing. I just enjoyed the sunshine as much as possible. The resort was incredible. Cabanas lined up not only the pool deck but also the beach. I was able to enjoy all of the amenities (including the Mexican food)courtesy of the client.

The next day I spent most of the morning working on my set – it was to be a 45 minute dinner mix and a 2 hour dance set. They had a Mexican trio playing for the cocktail hour. I did sound check around 5PM as the event planners were putting the finishing touches on the décor.

Advisors Excel

I returned just before cocktail hour to feel out the vibe of the party and was asked by the event planners if I could play for cocktail hour instead of the Mexican trio. Though I hadn’t prepped a set for that, I jumped right in and did it. Towards the end of dinner, a fire throwing dance crew gave a special performance before I went on for the dancing portion of the evening.

Fire Throwing Show

Once I started my first dance set, the party went off! In fact, we went an extra hour because no one wanted to stop. All in all, I ended up playing a total of 5 straight hours. Due to my engagement the next day, I got about 2 hours sleep before catching my early morning flight to Raleigh.  Such is the life of a internationally traveling DJ.

I really enjoyed working with this group as well as the event planners, Genesco Sports Enterprises. Thanks for including me. Let’s do it again!
