Kelly Green Wedding in Alys Beach | Alexa & Anthony

Kelly Green Wedding: Alys Beach, FL

One of Alys Beach’s more popular spots, Kelly Green is a perfect venue for guest counts of over 100 people. It complements the town of Alys Beach so well. Its well-manicured lawns and semi-hidden location make for a luxurious and private wedding space. This wedding was that and more.

The groom, Anthony (wearing a blue tux and diamond studded shoes), and the bride, Alexa, were stylish themselves and into the details of every aspect of the wedding. From monogrammed everything to the food to the music list to a theatrical and choreographed grand entrance/first dance, their imprint on the event to was very evident for all to see and made it truly “them”. Music-wise, this crowd was into just about everything. The party, really took off, however, when we delved deep into the hip hop genre.

The most memorable part of the reception took place at the Grand Exit. The groom surprised his beautiful bride with her wedding gift – a murdered out Phantom Rolls Royce. I don’t think the bar can be set much higher gentlemen. Her reaction was priceless. She was so shocked, happy and blown away all at once! It was the perfect ending to an amazing night.

Sandestin Bayview Room: What an Awesome Venue!

I refer to it as one of our second homes – the Sandestin Bayview Room and Terrace is one of the most modular wedding venues on the Emerald Coast and we seem to have an event here just about every weekend. The flexibility that the space offers came in handy this weekend. If you haven’t checked out our venue tours at this property, it may be worth a look. We have Part 1 and Part 2. Hurricane Hermine was looming but never seriously threatened our event. The humidity, however, was intense and with rain slated for later in the evening, Courtney made the final call to move the reception indoors. We still had the ceremony outside and the cocktails were an indoor/outdoor combo. In the Bayview room, we had the entire room set for dancing. The dinner was held in the lobby entry way which worked perfectly for the guest count on hand..

Destination Weddings in Sandestin Florida. What more could a Wedding DJ want?

This crowd may qualify as one of my best of the year. They were ready to dance and had the entire room (minus the cupcakes) allotted for just that. With zero formalities after dinner (no cake cut, bouquet or garter), we got into the dancing very quickly. Being from Kentucky and a large contingent from St. Louis, Courtney and Chris brought two great destination crowds together. Folks from those parts of the country love to have a good time and are really nice people to boot. 90s and 2000s pop, hip hop and R&B went over really well and, of course, with so many being from St. Louis, there were more than a few Nelly tracks played. I even get a chance to show them The Wobble.

The floor was so packed that we went an extra 30 minutes of overtime. Best wishes to Courtney and Chris! Thanks for including us.

Grand Entrance (Bridal Party): “We Found Love (Instrumental)” by Rihanna
Grand Entrance (Bride/Groom): “University of Kentucky Basketball Theme Song”
First Dance: “I Get To Love You” by Ruelle
Father/Daughter Dance: “It Won’t Be Long” by Darius Rucker
Father/Daughter Dance: “Wild Horses” by The Rolling Stones
Mother/Son Dance: “Don’t Blink” by Kenny Chesney
Last Dance: “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond

Wedding DJ Wedding Package Winners | Des & Basil

Last year we did a wedding package giveaway. It was one of the best contests we’ve ever ran. It came down to the wire but Deserie and Basil (pictured bottom left below) pulled away and won it!

DJ wedding package

It took over a year to see the wedding come to fruition but wow, what an awesome event. I didn’t get a ton of time to hang out with Des and Basil but you could see the genuine love in their eyes all night. Their crowd was amazing and boy did they love some old school!

This was the first time I’d ever worked at this venue, Plaza De Magdalena, in San Juan Capistrano, CA. From the street, you’d have no idea this hidden gem was there. And a hidden gem it is! The courtyard is downstairs and very private – perfect for ceremonies and cocktail hours. But the crown jewel is the Magdalena Room, which boasts a phenomenal in-house lighting system (complete with decor and monogram/gobo lighting potential) and they have an in-house sound system. Patti, the contact at the venue, was amazing to work with. She was very accommodating and unlike many venue contacts, she stayed until the end (which I very much appreciated).

Des had her friend, Elena Moreno, run the event and she couldn’t have been easier to work with! You’d have thought she had done this for years by the way she was so calm and collected throughout the night. Here are a photos of the evening we snapped.

Holiday Music | Thanksgiving Song Titles with DJs Brian B & Josh B

As DJs, we get asked all the time for holiday music and other music ideas for parties and special occasions (even ones we’re not entertaining at).  The holidays are no exception.  In fact, it doesn’t fail that our inbox is filled this time of year with requests from people looking for playlist ideas for their holiday get-togethers.  Well, we at B-Boy Productions have got you covered for Thanksgiving…sort of.  You see, Thanksgiving is one of those holidays where finding a playlist to fit the theme is a little tough. Beyond the obvious gratititude tracks of “Kind and Generous” by Natalie Merchant, “Thank You” by Dido, the rest are pretty slim pickings.

To provide a little levity to our VLog series, we offer you the top 10 Thanksgiving Song Parody Titles.  We hope you enjoy these.  If you have any others you’d add (we came up with “I Came In Like A Butterball” by Miley Cyrus, “U Can’t Stuff This” by MC Hammer,  and “All About That Baste” by Meghan Trainor after we had already taped this episode), feel free to comment below and or tweet us with the hashtag #thanksgivingparodysongs.  Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

WaterColor Inn Wedding with DJ Brian B | Catie & Russ

WaterColor Inn Wedding DJ

I truly believe that WaterColor Inn is one of the most stunning wedding venues on the planet.  Having performed all over the country as a wedding DJ, I say this with extreme conviction.  So when Catie called us to inquire about our services and mentioned they had just booked that venue, I was so happy for them.  Multiply that excitement by 110% when she asked me personally to perform at her wedding!

Although she was extremely laid back, Catie and I were in contact frequently up to her wedding day.  I love it when a bride takes that much interest in the entertainment portion of her wedding.  We threw formality song suggestions back and forth many times until we found songs that fit them perfectly.

On the day of the wedding, the weather was stunning.  We set up on the lawn for the cocktail hour and reception while the ceremony took place on the beach.  With our 2 person DJ/Emcee package, DJ Charles handled the ceremony sound technician duties while one of our guitarists provided the ceremony music.

At the reception, we kicked into “The Wobble” immediately following the first dance and the entire crowd came out onto the dancefloor.  Talking about setting a dancing tone right off the back!  Wow!  They were ready to party.

The Wobble Wedding DJs

As I started playing for dinner, a huge cloud formed over us.  I tried my “music karma” in getting the sun out there with this Beatles selection.

WaterColor Wedding

In true Florida fashion, within all of about 90 seconds, a slight drizzle started. We quickly covered our gear and waited for it to pass.  As soon as it did, we went back out and started again.  The weather kept threatening and when the wind picked up, it was obvious that Mother Nature had other plans.

WaterColor Inn DJ

We quickly packed up our gear and moved inside one of the ballrooms and carried on with the rest of the night.  The crowd was in such a great mood despite the weather ordeal.  It was probably one of the best dancing crowds I had all summer long.

Emerald Coast Wedding DJ

What really stood out to me, however, was the love that this family shared.  The toast tributes to both the bride and groom were so touching.

It was great sharing this wedding with some of the local area wedding industry all-stars.  We had Cheryl from WaterColor coordinating the event, Paul and Mecheal from Paul Johnson Photography, Celia and Danny from Momentus Films, and the crew from Fisher Flowers and Events.

We send out heartfelt best wishes to both Catie and Russ!!!  With that, we’ll leave you with this awesome highlight video from Momentus Films.

Destin Wedding DJs Brian B & Josh B at Rutherford’s 465 | Lauren & Alex

When I first met Lauren and Alex at the Commons in Destin, FL before they booked us, I just knew that they would be a fun group.  Although laid back, they both had a “cool” factor and I was really looking forward to sharing their day with them and their guests.  They had a vision for what they wanted and being one the few Destin wedding DJs that has seen just about everything, I loved the fresh and creative spin that they were putting on their wedding!

I started following them both on Instagram and was stoked to see that Alex was totally into fly shoes like I am.  Sure enough, he and his groomsmen were sporting some dope kicks at the wedding.  But I digress…

The wedding was great on so many levels.  We worked with some talented professionals – Christine Walker from RSVP Destin, Michael from Michael K Photography, Sally from Florals By The Sea, Heidi from Bake My Day Destin and of course Jackie from the venue, Rutherford’s 465.  A few years back when I was living full-time in Destin, it seemed like I worked with this crew just about every weekend so it was exciting to be reunited with some of the best in that local market again.

As far as our staff goes, we had Eric Partin officiating, Cam Ray playing keys for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and then I got to work the reception with DJ Josh B as the wedding DJs.  The venue, itself, is such a modular space and the couple took full advantage of the multiple levels that it offers.  Sally and her crew did an awesome job with the décor throughout from lounge seating on the deck to sweeping linens from the inside ceiling, etc.

When it came to the dancing, this crowd was ready! The space is so well lit that everything just popped!  Each song seemed to go over perfect and the dance floor filled almost immediately.  In our venue review, we used a ton of photos from this wedding so to not be repetitive; we leave you with this highlight reel we put together.  We wish Alex and Lauren many happy years together!

Barn Wedding with Nationally Traveling Wedding DJ, DJ Brian B: The White Barn, Prospect PA | Helbling Wedding

Traveling Wedding DJ

Some of you know that our company was started in Southern California.  There was a time when Temecula / Winery / Barn Weddings were the rage in California.  I absolutely loved doing them.  They have the rustic feel but still modern vibe as well.  Nowadays, those types of weddings are few and far between for us to DJ.

So when one of my favorite photographers on the planet, Dear Wesleyann, asked if I would consider coming to Prospect, PA to DJ her sister’s wedding, it was a no brainer.  The fact that it was a Barn Wedding was icing on top of the cake.  I was so pumped to be a part of Haley and Chad’s wedding and being a Traveling Wedding DJ is one of my favorite things about our business.

Although the White Barn was only 20 minutes outside of Pittsburgh, it felt like it was way out in BFE.  Literally, the cemented roads stopped and I was on gravel for the last few miles.  The clouds were crazy amazing that day.

Outside White Barn Prospect PA

One of my favorite things about this couple was their awesome taste in music.  They had some phenomenal selections.  For the exit of the ceremony, they walked out to an edit I did of Mumford and Son’s “She Said Yes”.  This is not off any regularly released CD but a live concert CD bought at one of their shows.  I’ll be suggesting this song for a while to couples.  Such a great track!

White Barn Ceremony

After the ceremony, they had cocktail hour on the outside deck of the barn where a Lumineers/Mumford & Sons style band played. They were great and really picked up the energy.

White Barn Outside

We then transitioned into the reception space inside the barn. The décor was amazing, the speeches were full of humor and sincerity and once we got to the dancing, they were ready to have a party! The dance floor never emptied.

One moment that stood out was when the grandmother of the bride who was in her 90s wanted to dance with a guest.  She goes by “Na Na”.  So I put on Rihanna’s track “What’s My Name” where it starts off with, “Oh Na Na, what’s my name…”  I looped it for a few bars until she figured it out it was for her, and they danced.  It was awesome.

Haley and Chad were genuinely in love and even though I didn’t spend a ton of time with them outside of their wedding day, it was easy to see.  Thanks for the opportunity to be a part of your day!
