We’re School Dance DJs Too | Meigs Middle School Dance With DJ Charles

While wedding season is in full gear, we’re also on the cusp of School Dance season. We don’t write about it often enough, but we are definitely school dance DJs as well as wedding DJs. Prom season starts in a bit and DJ Charles is the best DJ on the Emerald Coast when it comes to school dances. He knows exactly how to rock the crowd but still keep everything kosher for the faculty and dance chaperones.

school dance DJs

This past week, we sent Charles and 2 party motivators to Meigs Middle School in Shalimar, FL for a dance that helps to raise funds for the 8th grade appreciation day at the end of the year. The dance was held in the school’s cafeteria. There were about 100 students in attendance and the event was hype from the first song.

We had two of our party motivators/ MCs in training work with Charles. They were out there leading line dances and dancing with the kids all night long. For these kind of dances, this helps take the event to another level. The song of the night was “iSpy” by Kyle feat. Lil Yacty.

We got an amazing review within about 30 minutes of the dance ending by the one of the school dance advisors. Thanks again for having us Meigs and we look forward to working with you again soon.

Intimate: NYC Wedding Entertainment at The Little Beet Table

Djing and providing NYC Wedding Entertainment always makes for some fun experiences. You see, New York City is known for its over the top weddings and we have definitely entertained our fair share of them. However, every now and then, we get an amazing couple who wants to go for a very intimate wedding experience. That was certainly the case for Adam and Courtney, one of our clients who had their wedding earlier this month. One of our favorite things about the City is the fact there is no shortage of venue spaces that have their own charm and and feel. They selected “The Little Beet Table” in the Flatiron District. They rented out the entire space and it worked perfectly for the 100 or so guests they had in attendance. With a fantastic vendor team, we were able to put together a very memorable experience for our couple of honor.

Adam and Courtney had an eclectic list of cocktail hour and dinner songs which I sure did appreciate. It spanned the spectrum – pop to indie to R&B to eletronica to some oldies. However, once the dancing started, the genre of choice was definitely 90s Hip Hop and R&B. That is a favorite era of mine so I was up for the challenge to throw down. The dance floor stayed pack the entire night. Such a great time!

Meet DJ Jae Richie | The Party Starter

We are excited to introduce you to DJ Jae Richie, one of our Jr. Associate DJs. Jae is what we call a triple threat entertainer – he can sing, dance and mix! This guy can really do it all. Our staff loves being paired with Jae as the MC because he’s one of our most interactive DJs on staff. He’ll get out there and dance with the crowd and really take the party to another level without it coming across cheesy. MC’ing and crowd hype is really second nature to him.

Jae brought with him to B-Boy a plethora of event experience – he was in a traveling theatre group, danced professionally, and has been recently hosting karaoke at a local restaurant during the week. Having been trained in our system, he sees the value of structure and with our emphasis on this, he’s been able to thrive within that environment. One of the things about Jae is that he is very calm under pressure. He doesn’t seem to get rattled easily. There could be rain or a maybe a delay with pictures and Jae has the ultimate poker face. He’ll be sure to keep guests entertainment and none are the wiser.

If you want the ultimate party starter, Jae definitely fits the bill.

Based in the Fort Walton Beach area, Jae is booked there as well as all over the Emerald Coast for his events. To book him for your event, contact us today.

UWF Dance Marathon | #bboygivesback

Sometimes we come across non-profits that just seem to fall in our laps as perfect fits for our #bboygivesback initiative. The UWF Dance Marathon is one of them. Of course, it helps that one of our DJs attends UWF (University of West Florida).

Dance Marathon DJ

Never heard of a Dance Marathon? Colleges across the country have been doing these for years. It is a yearlong philanthropy effort that raises funds for the Children’s Miracle Network. The UWF Dance Marathon, in particular, raises funds through that organization for a local hospital, the Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart in Pensacola. DJ Josh Weck saw a great opportunity for us to do what we do – throw down fantastic music with polished MC’ing. This effort is in its second year at UWF. The first year UWF used a spotify playlist for the entertainment. With a live DJ/MC, this would be a completely different experience for them (in a good way). Josh was up to the 8 hour DJ’ing challenge for the signature event. Students danced from 10:00AM until 8:00PM. Not all danced the entire 8 hours (most came in waves through the 8 hours), but a few did. To keep it from getting stagnant, certain hours were themed by genre or style.

The results? Last year they raised $11,000 and this year they raised over $43,000! Boom!

Interested in being a part of the Dance Marathon? Anyone can get involved – whether it is donating, being on the Executive board, or being a dancer. Follow them on Instagram to learn more. Also, if you are interested in volunteering with the local hospital they do accept volunteers there as well.

Here’s what 2 administrators had to say about our involvement on our 3rd party review site.

Meet DJ Josh Woeckener | Emerald Coast Wedding DJ

Not your typical Emerald Coast Wedding DJ

Josh Woeckener’s path to being a DJ/MC for B-Boy Productions, Inc. was not your typical employment route. We met Josh as a client of B-Boy when he and his wife, Rhoda, got married a few years ago. DJ Irving G was their DJ/MC and in his post event report, he left a little note at the end that said, “Josh would be a great potential DJ/MC for our team.” For most companies, the best hires are typically those that are referred in from current employees. That certainly has been the case for us. We quickly followed up with him and within a few conversations, we had him in for training. One of the many advantages to having Josh as your Emerald Coast Wedding DJ or MC is that he’s been in the client shoes, specifically as a B-Boy Productions client. He easily relates to what they’re going through and in many cases can anticipate exactly what questions/issues clients will want answered, addressed, etc. This puts our clients at ease right away. Josh was in the Air Force for a few years and with that brings extreme attention to detail and fantastic follow-up skills.

Being from the local area and doubling as a sales associate for B-Boy, Josh is very familiar with just about every venue in the area. He networks throughout the week and can speak very confidently about the vendors we work with. So whether it’s something we can offer or not, Josh will be sure to guide you down the right path.

Over the last few years, he’s been working many events outside of weddings and corporates for us by doing some nightlife events as well as playing for fitness/gym workout sessions weekly. As it pertains to weddings, this make a huge difference. Becoming a well-rounded DJ and MC in all event types allows him to bridge the gap with just about any client he works with. The vast amount of sweat equity he put into his craft led to his recent promotion as an Associate level DJ earlier this year. The value of experience can’t be understated.

We hope you’ll strongly consider Josh as your wedding DJ/MC. He’ll not only approach your event as if you’re his only client but he’ll rock the party as well.

A Spring Rosemary Beach Wedding Venue: Town Hall

Although technically still Winter, we’re going to consider this past weekend a Spring Rosemary Beach wedding. The weather was absolutely perfect and no sign of humidity (stay in hibernation, my friend). Amey and Alexndra gathered 100 or so of their closest family and friends to celebrate with them. Being one of the premier locations for weddings, it’s no surprise that this is a popular wedding venue along 30A. The Town Hall has much to offer. This gorgeous venue is the only spot you’ll need for ceremony and reception, with vendors that move like clockwork transforming the hall from ceremony to reception in under an hour while guests enjoy cocktails on the lawn.

Meet DJ Charles Egstad | Rising DJ Talent

Meet DJ Charles Egstad. This DJ has the potential to do some great things in this industry. One of the challenges for DJs (especially young DJs) is that they tend to get bored very easily with playing the hits. As DJs, we entertain at private parties just about every weekend in season. What we sometimes forget is that the crowd doesn’t go to these types of private events with the same frequency as we do. Think back to how many wedding or corporate events you’ve gone to in the last year as a guest. 1 maybe 2? Our DJs are doing between 60-80 private events a year per person. So the temptation for a DJ is to play a ton of remixes, B side tracks or try and force feed our guests the latest breaking music to mix it up and stay fresh. The problem is that the crowd generally just wants to hear the hits! It’s a delicate balance as there is a time and place for pushing new tracks or remixes of the hits (and to be fair, some actually work better than the original). The trick is figuring out when/where to infuse the events with them. One of the things that has impressed our management team about DJ Charles Egstad is his discipline in this regard. His programming has really gone to another level and his is reading the crowd as well as most seasoned veterans. At this point, he can rock just about any party with his skill set. Now he’s adding the “icing” to his skill set to put him on another level.

We use Charles for just about every event type and he’s paid his dues. He started assisting us as a technician in 2012 and has risen through the ranks and just this year was promoted to an Associate Level DJ. He can rock young crowds and older ones alike. He’s been our “go to” DJ for high school dances for the last few years, he become our weekly resident nightlife DJ at McGuire’s Irish Pub of Destin last year for the area’s largest ladies night and over the last 2 years or so, almost all of our young wedding couples are asking for Charles by name for their event. He’s been our most consistent DJ in terms of putting out live mixes for the public to hear and this year we hope to get him into the rotation of DJ’ing our Fashion Show events.

Bottom-line, if you want a DJ with style, the look, and mixing skills to match, Charles is your guy. He’ll have you and your crowd dancing all night.

Based in Destin, we book Charles there as well as in Miramar Beach and Sandestin for most of his events. We also send him out to Fort Walton Beach and 30A for events in WaterColor, Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach, Carrilon Beach, and Panama City Beach. To book him for your event, contact us today.

DJ Brian B Partners With The Birthday Party Project

I heard about The Birthday Party Project and I knew they would be a major player in our #bboygivesback initiative. As the owner/operator of B-Boy Productions, it was important that I lead the charge of our #bboygivesback initiative. For years, I had looked for a non-profit partner that was a perfect fit for B-Boy. In the interim, we did plenty of non-profit events and were glad to be a part of them (still are). However, last year, we found one of those perfect fits. I heard about The Birthday Party Project and I knew they would be a major player in our #bboygivesback initiative. It’s a party themed organization! I mean, could it be any more in our wheelhouse as an entertainment company?

Birthday party project New York

I believe the statistic was 80% of kids in a homeless family shelter never celebrate a birthday. When I heard that, my heart broke for those children. Not one birthday party? We can’t have that. I immediately made a call to see how we could get involved. Late last year I volunteered to be a part of what was already in place before making suggestions on what else could be done with my event niche. The party was all I thought it would be and more.

So what is the The Birthday Party Project (TBPP) and how does it work? Originating out of Dallas, this non-profit is 5 years old and growing rapidly. They are now in multiple major cities and adding more all the time. They partner with a few homeless family shelters in each city. Every month they work with some of the best in the event business world who donate their time and talents. The theme of the party changes each month. The one I went to last year was a carnival themed party. Papa John’s donates pizza for all the kids. Ceci New York handles the invitations and then many volunteers come and run the games and activities for 2 hours. If it is a child’s birthday that month, TBPP gets the inside scoop on what that child likes. From monetary donations received in, they provide a big gift or two to each child whose birthday falls in that month. Goody bags go out to all of the other kids in attendance so no one leaves empty-handed. Of course, there’s a birthday cake and cupcakes as well!

This month’s theme was “Dance Party”. Clearly, there was a need for a DJ. With 3 shelters in NYC, I was able to volunteer for 2 of the 3 dates and put my DJ skill set to use. It was an absolute blast. Glow in the dark necklaces and glow wands as well as cool shades, a photo booth station and fantastic music made the party! I hope to share my experience with other DJ colleagues of mine as well as other event professionals and add to the amazing work that TBPP is already doing.

Meet DJ Irving Gil | 30A Bilingual DJ

If you’re having a private event in the panhandle of Florida, finding a 30A bilingual DJ is not easy. With Irving Gil on our team, we have you covered. But don’t let that fool you, being bilingual is not his only asset. Irving is one of the most hardworking and caring individuals you will meet (seems to be a common theme with our staff). Authenticity is the word we think of when we talk about Irving. He’s the real deal. What you see is what you get. He constantly tells our clients who have chosen him as their DJ that he will do everything in his power to make sure their event stand out and be the best it can be. If the event calls for standard announcements and great dance music, he can do that. If you want him to interact with the crowd and lead the latest line dances and make all of your guests feel comfortable, he’ll do that too.

Over the years, he’s found his most successful parties to be ones where he’s paired with clients that are looking for some type of interaction – not necessarily cheesy DJ stuff but just being warm, inviting and pulling out all the stops to make sure every guest (from 3 years to 95 years of age) walk away saying, “That was one of the best parties I’ve ever been to!” Being a father of three kids, if your event has kids in attendance and you want them to feel involved, Irving can make it happen. We have many repeat family friendly clients who ask for Irving specifically year after year due to this very fact.

Being from the Dominican Republic, we lean on Irving to keep our Latin music library up to date. As far as MC’ing goes, he’s done entire events in Spanish, gone back and forth throughout the night, switching between English and Spanish or kept all in English. He will work with you to make sure we get it just right!

Based out Crestview, we book Irving there as well as all over the panhandle of Florida. His event schedule has limited availability so to book him for your event, contact us today.
