Meet DJ Charles Egstad | Rising DJ Talent

Meet DJ Charles Egstad. This DJ has the potential to do some great things in this industry. One of the challenges for DJs (especially young DJs) is that they tend to get bored very easily with playing the hits. As DJs, we entertain at private parties just about every weekend in season. What we sometimes forget is that the crowd doesn’t go to these types of private events with the same frequency as we do. Think back to how many wedding or corporate events you’ve gone to in the last year as a guest. 1 maybe 2? Our DJs are doing between 60-80 private events a year per person. So the temptation for a DJ is to play a ton of remixes, B side tracks or try and force feed our guests the latest breaking music to mix it up and stay fresh. The problem is that the crowd generally just wants to hear the hits! It’s a delicate balance as there is a time and place for pushing new tracks or remixes of the hits (and to be fair, some actually work better than the original). The trick is figuring out when/where to infuse the events with them. One of the things that has impressed our management team about DJ Charles Egstad is his discipline in this regard. His programming has really gone to another level and his is reading the crowd as well as most seasoned veterans. At this point, he can rock just about any party with his skill set. Now he’s adding the “icing” to his skill set to put him on another level.

We use Charles for just about every event type and he’s paid his dues. He started assisting us as a technician in 2012 and has risen through the ranks and just this year was promoted to an Associate Level DJ. He can rock young crowds and older ones alike. He’s been our “go to” DJ for high school dances for the last few years, he become our weekly resident nightlife DJ at McGuire’s Irish Pub of Destin last year for the area’s largest ladies night and over the last 2 years or so, almost all of our young wedding couples are asking for Charles by name for their event. He’s been our most consistent DJ in terms of putting out live mixes for the public to hear and this year we hope to get him into the rotation of DJ’ing our Fashion Show events.

Bottom-line, if you want a DJ with style, the look, and mixing skills to match, Charles is your guy. He’ll have you and your crowd dancing all night.

Based in Destin, we book Charles there as well as in Miramar Beach and Sandestin for most of his events. We also send him out to Fort Walton Beach and 30A for events in WaterColor, Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach, Carrilon Beach, and Panama City Beach. To book him for your event, contact us today.

Meet DJ Shawn Frady, your next Wedding DJ in Destin

Virtual Introductions

Because the majority of our clientele are considered “destination” clients, it makes it tough for them to meet their DJ/MC face to face prior to their wedding day. As a result, we thought it would be great idea to start a series of “Meet Your DJ” posts.

Pictures and event video footage are helpful, but what is your DJ REALLY like? What’s their personality type? How do they talk “off the mic”? Our management and sales team do a great job of pairing our headliner entertainers with the right couple, but sometimes the client wants to be the one to pick the person charged with handling what is arguably the most important day of their life. With that, we’ve partnered with Silver Shade Studios to put together some bio videos of each of our headlining DJ/MC staff.

Meet DJ Shawn Frady…

Today’s featured event DJ is Shawn Frady. Shawn is based out of our Emerald Coast of Florida office. He is an associate DJ and has been with B-Boy Productions since 2013. While weddings are our bread and butter, Shawn has done just about every event type imaginable – from weddings to corporate events to non-profit functions to fashion runway shows and even house parties, his experience and ability to tap into what the event calls for separates him from the majority of DJs not just in the local area but the country. To read more about Shawn and see his reviews, click here.

Shawn is booked in Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, WaterColor, Santa Rosa Beach, Sandestin and Destin for the majority of wedding events. To book him today for your event, contact us today.

30A DJ Josh Woeckener Promoted to Associate DJ

Our last promotion this winter out of our Florida Emerald Coast office is Josh Woeckener. He will be our go to 30a DJ and is being promoted to an Associate level DJ/MC. We love Josh’s story. He was actually a client of B-Boy when he and his wife, Rhoda, got married in 2013. Since then, he has joined our team as a DJ/MC and has blossomed over the past few years.

DJ Josh WoeckenerB-Boy Productions’ Florida General Manager, Shawn Frady, commented, “Having been seemingly grafted into the B-Boy fold, Josh has been one of the fastest rising talents in the area, leaving little doubt that this DJ/MC understands customer service. If you are looking for a polished experience coupled with the ability to ‘Get Down On It’ look no further.”

While we cover the entire panhandle area of Florida, Josh will be primarily based in our 30a locations – Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach, Santa Rosa Beach, and WaterColor. In other words, he is going to be our go to 30A DJ. That stretch of area demands excellence and we have full confidence that Josh will more than deliver.

For more information on Josh, be sure to read his bio here.

If you’re looking for an event DJ on 30A, Josh is your guy. To book Josh, be sure to message us and assuming he’s available, we’ll be glad to add him to your event.

Fonville Press Wedding | Alex & Courtney

Elegant and Casual: A Fonville Press Wedding

If I had to describe a Fonville Press wedding reception, I’d say it’s like throwing an epic party in the nicest backyard you’ve ever seen or been to. There’s a very relaxed yet elegant feel to it. For Alex and Courtney, they articulated their wedding vision as “formal with a casual atmosphere”. This place nails it on all counts.

Their ceremony took place on the beach. Country music was the genre of choice for the prelude to the processional. The new made-for-wedding song “I Get to Love You” by Ruelle ushered in Alex and the Bridal Party. Courtney’s processional march was punctuated by the classic “Canon in D”. The wind calmed as Courtney’s aunt, Sister Barb, presided over the ceremony. After the First Kiss as husband and wife, they greeted their guests to “All You Need Is Love by The Beatles.

The reception was filled with a heartfelt welcome from the Father of the Bride, a taco and queso bar as part of dinner, one written and one off-the-cuff toast, and the sense that everyone was there to celebrate Alex & Courtney. An eclectic assortment of music painted the soundtrack for the night ranging from country to an island/beachy sound to alternative to Top 40 and party classics. The wide range of music ensured that no one attending felt out of place or forgotten. This was the first wedding I’ve (Josh W) done where they wanted to ensure specific slow dances were incorporated in the open dance sets. It truly won over the guests.

Kelly Green Wedding in Alys Beach | Alexa & Anthony

Kelly Green Wedding: Alys Beach, FL

One of Alys Beach’s more popular spots, Kelly Green is a perfect venue for guest counts of over 100 people. It complements the town of Alys Beach so well. Its well-manicured lawns and semi-hidden location make for a luxurious and private wedding space. This wedding was that and more.

The groom, Anthony (wearing a blue tux and diamond studded shoes), and the bride, Alexa, were stylish themselves and into the details of every aspect of the wedding. From monogrammed everything to the food to the music list to a theatrical and choreographed grand entrance/first dance, their imprint on the event to was very evident for all to see and made it truly “them”. Music-wise, this crowd was into just about everything. The party, really took off, however, when we delved deep into the hip hop genre.

The most memorable part of the reception took place at the Grand Exit. The groom surprised his beautiful bride with her wedding gift – a murdered out Phantom Rolls Royce. I don’t think the bar can be set much higher gentlemen. Her reaction was priceless. She was so shocked, happy and blown away all at once! It was the perfect ending to an amazing night.

The heat was out in spades and its ugly second cousin, humidity was presenting itself to be a formidable foe for the hairdos of the day. The sky was the clearest of blue and cloudless, making for a rain-less wedding, which was imperative considering the ceremony /reception area was outdoors with no tent. After a perfect ceremony, we seamlessly moved into an upbeat cocktail that set the tone for the rest of the evening. Great music paired with our romantic café style lights courtesy of B-Boy Rentals and Event Design was the perfect kick off to an intimate reception.
